Hotel Francia - one of the most antique hotels of our green landscape. This Colonial Hotel was built by a Spanish family during the 19th Century and was constructed as hostel. The hostel was remodeled and reopened in 1934 under its actual name "Hotel Francia". During all these years, it has received many distinguished guests, such as the famous writer D.H. Lawrence lover of Oaxaca. The Hotel has an excellent location in downtown Oaxaca, just a block away from the beautiful main square. The hotel offers 60 guest rooms.

  • Monte Alban

  • 8 KM east to the property. Ancient capital of the Zapotecs, Monte Alban was inhabited without interruption for 1200 years, from 500 BC until 750AD. Later it was occupied by the Mixtecs until some time before the arrival of the Spanish. In its time of splendor, Monte Alban extended over a surface of 6.5 square kilometers and had a population of approximately 40,000 inhabitants. Over an immense esplanade are the pyramids, temples, various partios, palaces and a ball court. Tombs containing righ ornaments were uncovered including the famous Tomb 7 with rich offering in its interior found by Alfonso Caso. It is the most importan archaeological site of Oaxaca and one of the most relevant of Mesoamerica.
  • Atzompa

  • 10 KM east to the property. We suggest you taking the tour of this village with visit to the Arts and Crafts House. This is the perfect place to observe the variety of beautiful pieces of natural clay and green glazed pottery among which are the enormous pots made with the technique of pastille and called.
  • Route to MItla and Santa Maria del Tule

  • 14 KM north to the property. The main attration of this village is the Sabino or Ahuehuete tree, some 2,000 years old with a height of 40 meters, the trunk has a width of 42 meters diameter, a volume of 705 cubic meters and a approximate weight of 509 tons: this tree is the biggest in the world. Also worth a visit is the 17th Century church.
  • Arrazola

  • 10 KM north to the property. In this pueblo the inventiveness of artisans is expressed though working and decorating copal wood to create a fantastice zoo, "Alebrijes" which are on display and show in the house of the craftsman.
  • Cuilapan de Guerrero

  • 16 KM west to the property. This wonderful architectural complex displays gothic influence, manifest in the choir supports and the arches indicating the supporting branches of the nave contrasting the elements of romantic inspiration which stand out on the main facade. General Vicente Guerrero was executed in the backyard on February 14th, 1831.
  • Zaachila

  • 13 KM south to the property. Here we encounter the remains of one of last Zapotec capitals. Explorations uncovered two tombs of great because of their lintel and wall decorations as well as the stucco representations of mythical persons and animals.
  • San Bartolo Coyotepec

  • 13 KM west to the property. Pottery center of international fame due to the originality of its pieces made from black clay. This product is archived through a secret procedure applied during the firing of the ceramic. There is also an arts and crafts market where you can admire and purchase representative examples of this wonderful art.
  • Tlacochahuaya

  • 21 KM south to the property. This village is of exceptional interest because of its convent complex in which the church of stone and mortar was began in the middle of the 16th century, its altarpieces of the platersque style depict beautiful images in which the Virgin of the Rosary and the Archangel Gabriel stand out. Nevertheless, the most notable artwork is "San Jeronimo" by the indigenous painter Juan Arrue. Another attraction is the 16th Century organ, which is of great historic and artistic value, profusely decorated with green and orange flowers and with the portrait of San Jeronimo in the center.
  • Teotitlan del Valle

  • 27 KM west to the property. This village is the oldest in the valley of Oaxaca and is known for its rugs and wool serapes, dyed with natural colors. These fabrics are made on domestic looms that can be seen in the houses of the artisans. The village has a beautiful colonial church and next to the courtyard, there is a small community museum. At the entrance to the village, on the left hand side is Rancho La Grana, where one can observe the elaboration of dyes based on natural products such as the "Grana Cochinilla".

  • Visit the majestic Church of Santo Domingo de Guzman, renowned for its splendid altarpiece.
  • Hier Ve El Agua

  • South to the proeprty. This striking place is formed by two large petrified waterfalls of calcium carbonate and two small spring wells of carbonated water which have the appearance of boiling water when rising, hence the name.
